Mission
As a 2nd line of defence, RISK ORM CIB aims to provide RISK and CIB Management with a front to back consolidated view on operational risks for CIB activities in order to contribute to the reduction of operational risk and better respond to Regulator’s expectations. The mandate is to challenge and supervise the Operational Risk management of CIB activities for operational risk process and themes assigned to RISK and that operational risk management is adapted to CIB’s risk appetite.
To that end, RISK ORM CIB relies on an effective operational risk management set up covering CIB activities. RISK ORM CIB is organised around 4 geographies (Americas, APAC, United Kingdom, and EMEA excluding UK) and 2 Business Lines with global reach (BP2S and Global Markets).
As a MEA RISK ORM Analyst you will be directly reporting to the Head of MEA RISK ORM CIB.
Geographical scope concerned: Middle East and Africa
Core activities covered: CIB Corporate Banking
Activities covered, provided a delegation has been decided: ALMT, GM, BP2S
Direct Responsibilities
Contribute in maintaining as well as originating new ideas for the RISK ORM CIB Risk operating Model in Middle East and Africa:
+ Contribute to the transversal and EMEA projects
+ Work in strong coordination with the RISK ORM CIB EMEA excl UK and Transversal Methodology and Consolidation team
Operationally contribute to insert in MEA the new OR activities, and make the existing ones evolve, in line with the transversal and EMEA program.
Being part of MEA RISK ORM, represent RISK ORM and RISK ORM CIB, towards the 1st line of defence and in particular :
+ Participation in the supervision of CIB activities in MEA countries
+ Contribute to animate the 1st line of defence community of MEA to share and ensure the respect of norms, OR methodologies and procedures as well as correct Risk Assessment identification and operations (regular points, support on the new standards and tools, assistance during the reports of Permanent Control, feedbacks…)
+ Be CIB referent on the diverse topics and expertise covered by RISK ORM and RISK ORM CIB, by appealing as much as needed to the experts of the operational risk network (Methodology, Relations Regulators, Controls...)
Supervise, as 2nd line of defence, the Operational Risk and the Permanent Control framework with the aim of making sure of the correct application of the adequate set up and risk management :
+ Realization and analysis of Risk assessment carried out by the local Entities / “Metiers” / Functions i.e. having a second look, on critical review and analysis performed by the local OPC teams on Permanent Control and operational Risk.
+ Participate in the development and check & challenge the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), enabling the prioritisation of the main risk areas and ensuring that appropriate controls mitigate the main risks. Risks include execution risks, data risks, third party risks, fraud risks, risks related to Corporate Social Responsibility, etc. Review and assessment of Internal Control reporting towards internal or external parties
+ Realization, alone or with RISK ORM CIB EMEA teams excluding UK, on transverse or specific oversights
+ Monitor the level of maturity of the operational risk management system: Review of the quality of historical incidents, adequate monitoring of the implementation of controls and remedial action plans
+ Analysis of exceptional transactions and the New Activities Committee to articulate an opinion on the analysis of new operational risks and the adequacy of the proposed control system
As part of a RISK ORM CIB MEA where there is no Anti-Fraud specialist the Operational Risk Analyst has to play the role/or as back-up of Risk ORM CIB AF Contributor who provides input based on experience/knowledge, and/or contribution on regional/local role.
Participate, on request, to transversal projects within RISK ORM CIB by representing the users view related to :
+ The elaboration of the norms and methodologies on Operational Risk and Permanent Control System
+ Support the 1st Line of Defence (including OPC teams) for the deployment of the regulatory framework and / or in their relations with the local supervisors.
Expected Contributions
Contribution in reducing the operational risk faced by MEA CIB entities through various tasks.
Contribution in the deployment of the Risk culture within the CIB community, through communication and initiatives, and by developing a solid partnership with the CIB teams in charge of the 1st line of defence.
Participation in the preparation of the reports for the Management and the Regulators
Competencies, Experiences and Skills Mandatory Requirements: BSc. Degree preferably in Business Subjects
Risk Management Qualification and/or Certifications (Nice to have)
5 Years of experience overall and 2 years of experience in internal Control is preferable
Fluent in English
Fluent in Arabic and French (Nice to have)
Mandatory Skills
Knowledge of MS Office (Especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
Business Skills Good knowledge of the CIB businesses, products and processes, in particular but not limited to Corporate Banking
Interest and/or experience in the Operational Risk Management (Nice to have)
Culture knowledge of the norm context
