The role of a Billing SystemEngineer, Commercial Systems atCanonical

The Commercial Systems unit hasseveral areas of responsibility spread across six engineeringteams, closely collaborating with other engineering and businessteams at Canonical. Services designed, developed, and operated bythe Commercial Systems unit are at the heart of Canonical businessand Salesforce plays an integral role init.
The Billing team's mission is todevelop an internal billing system delivering a consistent billingexperience to all Canonical customers across all products andservices, and across all service delivery methods. This challengingassignment requires close cooperation with business departments toensure our customers are billed accurately and reliably, whileachieving the highest engineering standards expected of anyengineering team at Canonical.

Location:This role will be based remotely in the EMEAregion.
What your day will looklike
- Deliver engineering solutions in Goor Python
- Collaborate with colleagues ontechnical designs and code reviews
- Deploy andoperate services developed by the team
- SeekImprovements to engineering and operations practices
What we are lookingfor in you
- Experience as a software developer ina high-level language - preferably Go orPython
- Experience building, deploying, andoperating distributed systems andAPIs
- Excellent verbal and written communicationskills in English
- Ability to collaborateremotely with a diverse set of team members and stakeholders,remain highly motivated, productive, and organized in a fullyremote environment
- Ability to travel tointernational destinations for one week at a time, approximately2-4 times per year. Locations prior to the global pandemic includedNew York, Seattle, London, Cape Town, Budapest, Berlin, Montreal,and Brussels
Additional skills thatyou might also bring
- Experience with Salesforce, NetSuite,or Stripe APIs
- Experience in a business rolesuch as sales, finance, oroperations
- Bachelor's degree orequivalent in Computer Science or related engineeringfield
